Kongo Kingdom was a kingdom in ancient Africa that lasted from the 14th century to the 16th century. The Kongo people migrated into the their current location during the 13th century from the northeast followed by their leadership of Wene. In 1482 the Portuguese arrived and the Kongo began diplomatic relationships but in 1526 the Portuguese were kicked out but the Jagas invaded the Kongo people in 1568 and Kongo was forced to look to the Portuguese for help. Kongo never regained its great power and fought against the Portuguese.

The land of Kongo Kingdom is land of tropical wet and dry. The long dry seasons lasts from middle of May to September. The short rainy season lasts from October to middle of December. The short dry season is from middle of December to February. The long rainy season lasts from February to the middle of May. The average temperature is 25' C, which is warm and wet. High water levels occur in the middle of December, and low water levels are between 15 July and 15 August.

Relative Location and landforms
The land of Kongo years ago are now the country of Congo, Zaire, and Angola. It covered a little bit of Congo and Angola, and a large land of Zaire. The Kongo stretched from the Congo River in North to the Loge River in the south, and from the Atlantic Ocean in the west beyond the Kwan go River in the east. The northern part of Kongo’s territory is forested with rain forests. The southern part of Kongo is mainly Savanna grasslands with forests. The soil was very fertilized and the primary foods are manioc , rice, peanuts, and bananas.

Animal life
Until the 1900, there were lions, hippopotamuses, leopards, elephants, several species of antelopes, chimpanzees, buffalos, giant otters, and many kinds of poisonous snakes and nonpoisonous snakes that can be found in Kongo. Animals usually hunt wild pigs,civet cats, bats, and field rats.
